Welcome to Amnesty International South Africa’s course on human rights defenders.
You will learn who human rights defenders are, the role they play in creating a just society, the threats they face and how legislation can be a tool to protect them.
Outcomes:
- Be able to define who is a human rights defender.
- Understand human rights defenders in the context of South Africa.
- Be able to explain the need for human rights defenders’ legislation in South Africa.
- Be able to understand what good human rights defenders’ legislation would look like and advocate for it.
